Our Mission

Our mission at AKTIV Learning Academy is to educate and support our students in achieving their personal talents and full potential, along with providing a well-rounded support system for both students and families.

Our vision is for our students to be prepared and equipped with the tools they need to develop skills for everyday living, for our students to learn strategies that can assist with processing everyday sensory information, and to ultimately be happy and well-adjusted individuals.

About Us

AKTIV Learning was founded in 2005, as a need to accommodate learning differences of students within the autism spectrum disorder and similar disabilities. Maribel Alvarez, founder, and school director has 23 years of hands-on teaching experience, a Master's degree in Exceptional Education with Autism endorsement, a Master's degree in Reading, and a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education with ESOL endorsement from Barry University.

She is "teacher certified" and is trained in: behavioral modification, discrete trial methods, sensory integration, Picture Exchange Communication System, Handwriting Without Tears, Touch Math, and computer language development programs. She is passionate about teaching and is involved in developing new interactive teaching methods. She believes learning is about quality over quantity and the best road to success is high expectations and persistence.

Our High Standards of Ethics Code

All our employees and administrators have an obligation to report misconduct by instructional personnel and school administrators which affects the welfare of a student. We provide outstanding autism learning in Miami, FL. We provide an individualized curriculum of the student's needs and potential by collecting and analyzing the background and present information such as parent interview questions, administering pre and post-testing, observing students during testing and classroom activities, studying their past IEP, Therapy Evaluations, and Psychological exams.

We create a curriculum to custom fit your child since we know each child has a different style of learning. We use their strengths to improve their personal learning challenges.
